The "Little" Worries (Read time: 2 min.)

There are some things you worry about that, from the onset, you know are minor: the car needing an oil change, who's going to coordinate the drop off/pick up schedule for band practice, whether steak will be on sale this week, if your boss is going to leave work early today or not, etc.

Yes, they're worries but, at the end of the day, you already know each of these things will get handled in some form or fashion. The mistake most people make is in assuming that minor worries carry no weight. On the contrary, it's the minor worries that set up the habit of worry so when big problems arise, you know exactly what to do: WORRY!

The "little negatives" create a current in your mind that lead you down the worry path and, once down the worry path, the tendency is to go that route every time something goes wrong. Especially in situations where you've lived your life on one side of the spectrum or the other (either everything appears to go wrong or nothing has ever gone wrong), the little worries bring about a current of big meltdowns when the tide changes and your spectrum of experience goes against the grain of what you're used to.
